What Is Palm Sunday? Read Full History


Palm Sunday will be celebrated on 17th April of this year 2011. This is the beginning of the holy week for the Christian. At the end of the week Christian will celebrate the Easter. This is the Christian feast, and it belongs to the day, when Jesus enter in the Jerusalem. According to different books like Bible when Jesus walk towards the cross people covers the path with palm tree leaves and branches. They were also waving the palm tree branches to receive him. To celebrate the Palm Sunday churches are decorated and cover with the leaves of palm. Catholic and Protestant also celebrate this day. People use the palm leaves to cover their houses as well to remember the lesson of the holly week from the Jesus. In areas where the palm trees are not available people use other native plants to cover and decorate the houses and churches. Palm's Sunday has some other names also depending on the local language like, Yew Sunday, Willow Sunday.
